Nest Aware subscriptions are rather confusing and can be considered pricey for those with multiple devices, but come 2020, that’s all changing.

Announced this morning, a “new” Nest Aware subscription model will cover an entire home, not just individual devices. To remind you, the current 1st-gen Nest Aware pricing is per camera. Once this change takes place, all devices will be covered under a single monthly payment. And furthermore, Google Nest is adding new features into Nest Aware to sweeten the deal.

Nest Aware 1st Gen vs. New Nest Aware
In early 2020 when this launches, there will be two options: Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus. Nest Aware is 30 days of video history, camera features like intelligent alert, sound detection from select devices, and emergency calling from select devices. It’s priced at $6/month. Nest Aware Plus costs $12/month and offers 10 days of 24/7 video history, 60 days of event-video history, plus everything else Nest Aware comes with.
For those who want to stick to their current Nest Aware plan, Google says you can do that.
Yes! You can continue to use and renew your 1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions. But you can’t add any new 1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions if you’ve migrated to a Google Account.
